Made in Ethiopia Expo 2025″ facilitated market linkages worth over 4 billion Birr

Addis Ababa, May 7, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s Minister of Industry, Mr. Melaku Alebel, revealed that the “Made in Ethiopia Expo 2025” has successfully created market linkages valued at over 4 billion birr.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the third “Made in Ethiopia Expo,” the Minister emphasized that domestic production is key to Ethiopia’s economic survival and development.

Ahead of the just concluded national Expo, he highlighted that 168 discussion forums and 94 trade fairs were held across regions, zones, and woredas, generating transactions worth 400 million birr.

Minister Alebel underscored that the “Made in Ethiopia” initiative is part of a continuous effort to expand local production capabilities and foster a culture of consumption within the country.

He noted the significant participation in the event, with over 120,000 visitors, and mentioned the wide variety of products showcased by manufacturers.

In total, the Expo facilitated over 4 billion birr in trade and market linkages, with several panel discussions addressing key challenges within the sector.
