Addis Tomorrow SEZ Signs Agreements with Five Investors as Phase One Development Progresses

Addis Ababa, May 16, 2025 (FMC) — The Addis Tomorrow Special Economic Zone (SEZ) has signed investment agreements with five local and international institutions as part of the launch of its first-phase development activities.

The agreements mark a significant milestone in the ongoing implementation of the SEZ, which is being developed through a public-private partnership model aimed at strengthening Addis Ababa’s global competitiveness and economic dynamism.

As part of this phase, the project has begun offering apartment units for sale within a mixed-use development area covering 45,000 square meters.

The first phase integrates residential and commercial components designed to reflect the city’s modern aspirations and provide a vibrant urban experience.

Officials have stated that the Addis Tomorrow SEZ is envisioned to give Addis Ababa “a new face,” serving as a symbol of architectural renewal while enhancing the capital’s international profile and aesthetic appeal.

The first phase of construction, located in the Gotera area of the capital, is expected to be completed by December 2025.

It is worth recalling that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) officially launched the Addis Tomorrow Special Economic Zone project on August 12, 2024, by laying the foundation stone. During the ceremony, the Prime Minister highlighted the project’s potential to position Addis Ababa as a competitive urban and investment hub in Africa, and underscored the government’s commitment to facilitating sustainable urban growth through integrated infrastructure and innovation.
