Medina Eisa leads Ethiopian 1–2 finish in 5000m at London Diamond League

Addis Ababa, July 19, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s Medina Eisa delivered a stunning victory in the women’s 5000m at the London Diamond League, crossing the finish line in 14:30.57 to claim first place in a race that showcased Ethiopia’s dominance in long-distance running.

Eisa was closely followed by fellow Ethiopian Fantaye Belayneh, who secured second place with a strong 14:30.90 finish, giving Ethiopia a commanding 1–2 result on the global stage.

British athletes Hannah Nuttall and Innes FitzGerald also impressed, both shattering their personal records with times of 14:39.48 and 14:39.56, respectively, to take third and fourth place.

The London meeting is one of the key events in the Diamond League calendar, and Eisa’s victory adds momentum to her season as Ethiopia eyes strong representation in upcoming international championships.
