PM Abiy leads review of completed Entoto–Arat Kilo corridor dev’t
Addis Ababa, August 3, 2025 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, accompanied by members of the Prosperity Party Central Council, has led an on-site review of the completed development along the Entoto to Arat Kilo Plaza corridor, marking a major milestone in the capital’s urban renewal efforts.
The newly inaugurated corridor has undergone a remarkable transformation, now featuring dedicated walkways and bicycle lanes, upgraded road lighting, and the construction of modern commercial spaces—particularly in the historic Shiro Meda market area, known for its handwoven crafts. The project also includes children’s playgrounds, a large soccer field, and several other public facilities designed to enhance livability and community engagement.
In a message shared on social media this morning, the Prime Minister said the group reviewed the entire development pathway, describing it as a section of Addis Ababa that has experienced significant revitalization.
Photos shared alongside the post showed the Prime Minister and senior officials walking through the upgraded area and engaging with teenagers and children actively using the new sports and recreational spaces.
The inspection reflects the government’s ongoing push to modernize urban infrastructure while creating inclusive, people-centered public environments.
