Ethiopia’s Digital Strategy Marks Global Milestone, to Be Showcased at Major Tech Expo
Addis Ababa, August 8, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s push toward digital transformation has reached a critical milestone, with the Ministry of Innovation and Technology confirming that the Digital Ethiopia 2025 Strategy has substantially enhanced the country’s standing in the global digital economy.
In a joint press briefing held with the Ethiopian ICT Park, the Ministry announced that the Future Tech–2025 Expo will be held from November 28 to 30 at the New International Convention Center in Addis Ababa. The event is expected to highlight the progress of key digital initiatives and open new pathways for innovation, investment, and technology-driven growth.
State Minister of Innovation and Technology Muluken Kere said the Digital Ethiopia 2025 Strategy has already demonstrated tangible impact in shaping a globally competitive digital economy. “The upcoming expo will be a platform not only to showcase these gains but also to mobilize support for the next phase of our digital journey,” he noted, urging strong participation from skilled professionals and both public and private institutions.
Henok Ahmed, CEO of Ethiopian ICT Park, echoed this sentiment, describing the expo as a launchpad for the transition toward the Digital Ethiopia 2030 Strategy. He stressed that the exhibition will highlight innovative products and services developed under the 2025 Strategy and promote flagship projects housed at the ICT Park.
Senior Advisor at the Ministry, Abiot Bayu, outlined the strategic pillars that have underpinned the Digital Ethiopia 2025 successes — from digital skills development and online government services to the rollout of digital ID systems, e-commerce platforms, and the flagship 5 Million Coders Initiative.
He also referenced key policy innovations, including the implementation of the Startup Proclamation, as a framework to consolidate and scale ongoing digital advancements.
Further underscoring the strategic value of the expo, Redwan Abdi, CEO of the Research Centre for Innovation Development and Cooperation, said the event will foster stronger public-private partnerships, enhance digital diplomacy, and promote foreign direct investment in Ethiopia’s technology sector.
He revealed that the expo aims to convene over 1,000 international companies, alongside senior Ethiopian officials, members of the diplomatic corps, development partners, and innovators.
