Deputy PM Temesgen Lauds Harari Region’s Enterprises as Models for National Development
Addis Ababa, August 21, 2025 (FMC) — Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Truneh highlighted the Harari region’s growing industrial and agricultural enterprises as practical models for Ethiopia’s broader national development, following visits to key facilities in the city this week.
Temesgen toured Mas Engineering Enterprise and Adu Flour Factory, commending their contributions to the region’s economic growth. He noted that the steel plant is playing a vital role in supporting corridor development and urban improvement projects in Harar and surrounding areas. Adu Flour Factory, meanwhile, is helping to strengthen food security by producing wheat and corn flour and ensuring affordable access for the community through wholesale and retail channels.
The Deputy Prime Minister also visited the poultry and dairy hubs, where he observed the continuing impact of the “Bounty of the Basket” initiatives. He stressed that such projects are advancing Ethiopia’s push for food self-sufficiency and stand as examples of how localized development can align with national priorities.
According to him, the region’s development trajectory offers lessons that can be scaled up as Ethiopia moves into the next phase of its national implementation agenda.
