Kin-Ethiopia Tour to Deepen Cultural Diplomacy and Global Partnerships
Addis Ababa, September 5, 2025 (FMC) — The Kin-Ethiopia art and culture tour has emerged as a dynamic platform for strengthening people-to-people ties while also advancing trade and investment relations.
The Federal Government Communication Service and the Ministry of Culture and Sports, in partnership with Shakura Production, on Friday briefed the media on preparations for the troupe’s second international showcase, to be held in Russia under the theme “Showcasing Ethiopia’s Renewal.”
State Minister of the Government Communication Service, Tesfahun Gobezay, underscored that the initiative is designed to project Ethiopia’s image globally through the power of art.
He noted that cultural diplomacy plays an essential role in international relations, adding that Kin-Ethiopia’s performances serve as a vital medium for telling Ethiopia’s story to the world.
Highlighting Ethiopia’s ancient history, cultural wealth, enduring values, and legacy of independence, Tesfahun said that the troupe’s international tours create opportunities to present the country’s unique identity and beauty on the global stage.
He recalled that Kin-Ethiopia’s recent three-day tour to China contributed significantly to enhancing both government-to-government cooperation and people-to-people bonds, while also opening avenues for investment promotion.
The visit, he added, culminated in an agreement to expand exchanges in culture, trade, and investment.
State Minister of Culture and Sports, Nebiyou Baye, announced that the troupe’s second tour to Russia will run from September 9–15, 2025. He emphasized that Ethiopia and Russia share centuries-old diplomatic, cultural, and artistic ties, and said the visit would further deepen those relations. The troupe is scheduled to stage performances at major art fairs in St. Petersburg and Moscow.
Kamuzu Kassa, artist and manager of Shakura Productions, explained that the Russia tour will feature diverse artistic performances representing Ethiopia’s many ethnic groups and cultural traditions, alongside additional events showcasing the richness of Ethiopian heritage.
