Ethiopian Diplomat Ambassador Ayele Lire Laid to Rest

Addis Ababa, October 7, 2025 (FMC) — Ambassador Ayele Lire, Ethiopia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Cuba, was laid to rest this afternoon at St. Joseph Church in Addis Ababa.

President Taye Atske-Selassie, former President Sahle-Work Zewde, Minister of Foreign Affairs Gedion Timothewos, and State Ministers of Foreign Affairs attended the funeral, joining family members, friends, and colleagues from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in paying their final respects.

Ambassador Ayele was remembered for his long-standing dedication and distinguished service to Ethiopia’s diplomatic mission.
