Brazil breaks tourism record with over 7 million international visitors in 2025
Addis Ababa, October 8, 2025 (FMC) – Brazil has achieved a historic milestone, welcoming 7.09 million international tourists between January and September 2025, the highest number ever recorded in a single year. This is reported by Brasil247, a partner of TV BRICS.
The figure represents a 45 per cent increase compared with the same period in 2024 and surpasses the annual record of 6.77 million foreign visitors registered last year.
The result also exceeds by 2.9 per cent the 2025 target set in the National Tourism Plan (2024–2027), which aimed for 6.9 million international arrivals. September stood out as the best month in the country’s tourism history for this period, with 570,934 foreign visitors, up 28.2 per cent from September 2024.
According to the federal government, this growth reflects Brazil’s consolidation as a global destination known for diversity and hospitality, with a direct impact on employment generation, income, and local development.
Among source markets, Argentina remains the top contributor, sending over 2.7 million visitors between January and September.
