Ethiopia and Mozambique Agree to Strengthen Military Cooperation
Addis Ababa, October 24, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopia and Mozambique have agreed to deepen their longstanding military cooperation, reaffirming their historical ties and shared security interests.
Ethiopia’s Minister of Defense, Ms. Aisha Mohamed, held official talks with her Mozambican counterpart, Major General Cristóvão Artur Chume, at her office in Addis Ababa.
During the discussions, Minister Aisha highlighted the countries’ enduring historical and military relationship and expressed Ethiopia’s interest in expanding collaboration across various areas of military engagement in the future.
Major General Chume emphasized that Mozambique places great importance on its historical relations with Ethiopia. He noted his country’s strong interest in joint initiatives, particularly in the areas of counterterrorism, military industry, flight training and maintenance, and cybersecurity.
The Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) online media team reported that Major General Chume confirmed that Mozambique will soon send a delegation to Ethiopia to develop robust institutional ties and further operational cooperation.
