PM Abiy Ahmed to address parliament on government performance and key priorities tomorrow

Addis Ababa, October 27, 2025 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) is set to address the House of People’s Representatives tomorrow, October 28, 2025, providing detailed explanations and responding to queries from lawmakers.

The session marks the second regular sitting of the fifth year of the sixth House of People’s Representatives and will commence tomorrow morning in the Prime Minister’s presence.

During the proceedings, Prime Minister Abiy is expected to address questions stemming from President Taye Atske-Selassie’s speech delivered earlier this month, on October 6, during the joint opening session of the House of People’s Representatives and the House of the Federation. He will also elaborate on the federal government’s achievements and outline strategic priorities for the current fiscal year.

Following the Prime Minister’s address, the House is anticipated to endorse a motion of support after considering the government’s positions.

The session is also expected to be attended by ambassadors from various countries, representatives of multilateral organizations based in Addis Ababa, religious leaders, elders, leaders of competitive political parties, and other distinguished guests.
