PM Abiy, European Council President Costa Reaffirm Commitment to Deepen Ethiopia-EU Cooperation
Addis Ababa, November 22, 2025 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed held a bilateral meeting with António Costa, President of the European Council, on the sidelines of the G20 Leaders’ Summit 2025 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
During the meeting, the two leaders built on Ethiopia’s existing relations with the European Union and reaffirmed their commitment to deepen cooperation across multiple areas of mutual interest.
Prime Minister Abiy shared on his official social media page that the discussion reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships supporting sustainable development, economic growth, and strategic collaboration between Ethiopia and the EU.
The Prime Minister is attending the G20 Summit to engage with global leaders on inclusive economic growth, climate action, and Africa’s role in international trade and investment. He highlighted Ethiopia’s reform agenda and called for enhanced multilateral collaboration to address shared regional and global challenges.
