PM Abiy Meets UK, India Counterparts and Other World Leaders at G20 Summit in Johannesburg
Addis Ababa, November 22, 2025 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed held a series of bilateral engagements with global leaders on the sidelines of the G20 Leaders’ Summit 2025 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
His meetings included discussions with United Kingdom Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, as well as leaders from other countries.

After the meeting Indian PM Narendra Modi also posted on social media, stating, “India and Ethiopia share a partnership rooted in history and strengthened by developmental cooperation. We will keep boosting ties in sectors like technology, skilling and more.”

The Ethiopian Prime Minister met with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer to discuss advancing the strong and longstanding bilateral relations between the two countries.

Images and posts from Prime Minister Abiy’s official social media accounts also show meetings with other leaders, including Republic of Korea’s President Lee Jae Myung, Vietnam’s Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, and Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese.

He described the day as “productive and substantive,” noting the engagements contributed to building stronger ties and exploring areas of mutual interest.
Prime Minister Abiy’s participation in the G20 Summit has involved discussions with leaders of multiple countries, as well as heads of multilateral organizations, focusing on Ethiopia’s international partnerships and development priorities.
