PM Abiy, CAF President Motsepe Discuss Ethiopia’s Role in Advancing African Football
Addis Ababa, November 23, 2025 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed held a productive discussion this morning with Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Dr. Patrice Motsepe on the state of African football and Ethiopia’s expanding role in its development.
In a message shared on his official social media pages, the Prime Minister said the discussion focused on youth development, infrastructure expansion, and strengthening Ethiopia’s partnership with CAF.
He underscored Ethiopia’s determination to contribute meaningfully to elevating African football on the global stage.
Prime Minister Abiy highlighted the government’s commitment to investing in athlete development pathways, modern sports facilities, and robust institutional cooperation, noting that these efforts are aligned with broader national priorities in youth empowerment and sports diplomacy.
The meeting comes as Ethiopia continues to advance initiatives aimed at enhancing its sports infrastructure and positioning itself as a competitive force within continental football structures.
