Ethiopian Air Force to host air shows, expo, and continental forum for 90th anniversary next month

Addis Ababa, December 25, 2025 (FMC) — The Ethiopian Air Force today announced that it will commemorate 90 years of service to the nation from January 23 to 27, 2026, with a series of national and international programs, including air shows, professional forums, exhibitions, and public events.

Briefing the media earlier today, Brigadier General Brook Seifu, Commander of the 1st Air Division of the Ethiopian Air Force and a member of the anniversary organizing committee, said the celebration will be held under the theme “Ethiopian Air Force, a Symbol of Freedom and Unity.”

He said the Black Lion Air Show will be staged as part of the anniversary, with the participation of air forces from various countries, under the theme “Ethiopia: Sky of Lions.”

Brigadier General Brook recalled that a 10-kilometer international road race, organized as part of the anniversary activities, was held in Bishoftu town on November 30, 2025.

He also said the Aviation Technology Expo 2026 will take place under the theme “Building the Future of Aviation Capability Together,” with the participation of more than 25 companies.

According to him, the expo will bring together the Ethiopian Air Force and Ethiopian Airlines, along with major companies from China, India, the United States, and South Africa.

He further stated that the Future Africa Air Forces Forum will be held for the third time as part of the celebration, under the theme “Strengthening Our Joint Efforts to Build a Stable World.” The forum is expected to be attended by air force commanders from more than 38 African countries.

Brigadier General Brook also indicated that a public discussion will be conducted under the theme “Celebrating the Honor of Serving the Country,” with the participation of senior defense force commanders and high-level government officials.

He said all necessary preparations have been completed to ensure the successful implementation of the planned programs and called on the public to attend the inauguration ceremony to honor members of the air force who have served and continue to serve the country.

Brig. Gen. Brook also noted that the public can follow the events scheduled during the anniversary and purchase entrance tickets through the website etaf90years.com, which was developed by the Ethiopian Air Force.
