Renowned American YouTubeer Darren Watkins Visits Adwa Victory Memorial Barefoot During Addis Ababa Tour

Addis Ababa, January 13, 2026 (FMC) — Renowned American YouTuber and live-streaming sensation Darren Jason Watkins Jr., widely known as IShowSpeed, is in Addis Ababa as part of his tour across several African countries.

The 21-year-old digital personality was welcomed upon arrival today by Ethiopia’s Minister of Tourism, Selamawit Kassa, marking the beginning of his stay in the capital. IShowSpeed is currently touring 20 African nations, highlighting their cultures, heritage, and historical significance to his global audience.

During his recent visit to Kenya, the influencer reportedly gained more than 300,000 new followers in a single day, bringing his YouTube subscriber base to around 48 million. His visit to Ethiopia has drawn significant attention locally as well, with many Ethiopian content creators actively following his stay and engagements in Addis Ababa.

IShowSpeed is livestreaming his activities in real time on his YouTube channel, with over 191,000 viewers tuning in to watch his tour of the Ethiopian capital.

At present, the popular content creator is visiting the Adwa Victory Memorial barefoot, paying symbolic respect at one of Ethiopia’s most historic and patriotic landmarks.

IShowSpeed also visited the National Palace, touring its historic premises and the various heritage sites located within the compound, further engaging with Ethiopia’s rich cultural legacy during his stay in Addis Ababa.
