African Union Commission Congratulates Senegal on AFCON 2025 Triumph

Addis Ababa, January 19, 2026 (FMC) — The African Union Commission has congratulated Senegal on winning the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025, following the team’s victory in the final of the continental tournament held in Morocco.

In a congratulatory message, African Union Commission Chairperson Mr. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf described Senegal’s success as well-earned and praised the final match as a memorable conclusion to the competition.

He noted that the clash between Senegal and hosts Morocco reflected the highest standards of African football, competitiveness, and continental pride.

The Chairperson said the tournament once again demonstrated football’s role as a powerful force for unity across Africa, bringing people together beyond borders, cultures, and generations.
