Djibouti President Hails Ethiopia’s Growth as Engine for Regional Prosperity
Addis Ababa, January 31, 2026 (FMC) — Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh said that Ethiopia’s development achievements serve as a powerful catalyst for economic integration and growth across the Horn of Africa.
The President made the remarks during the inauguration of the Shebelle Resort by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, a ceremony attended by both President Ismail Omar Guelleh and Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
President Guelleh described the Shebelle Resort as a landmark accomplishment that strengthens the emerging tourism network within the region.
He noted that the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has fostered development projects that reinforce regional linkages, and highlighted that the resort itself will serve as a premier destination, raising the standard of tourism across neighboring countries.
Furthermore, he emphasized that such infrastructure is crucial for deepening economic cooperation between partner nations in the Horn of Africa.
President Guelleh also expressed appreciation to the people of the Somali Region for their steadfast commitment to peace, which has created the foundation for development initiatives that deliver tangible benefits to the public.
