President of Comoros Arrives in Addis Ababa Ahead of 39th AU Summit

Addis Ababa, February 11, 2026 (FMC) – The President of Comoros, Azali Assoumani, arrived in Addis Ababa on Wednesday to attend the 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government, scheduled for February 14–15.

Upon arrival at Bole International Airport, President Assoumani was welcomed by Ethiopia’s Minister of Women and Social Affairs, Ergoge Tesfaye, and State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Berhanu Tsegaye.

The 39th African Union (AU) Summit will bring together heads of state and government from across the continent to discuss key issues including peace and security, regional integration, sustainable development, and the implementation of AU initiatives. The summit is expected to serve as a platform for member states to strengthen cooperation on continental priorities and advance collective development agendas.

Ahead of the AU Summit, Addis Ababa is also hosting the 2nd Italy-Africa Summit, aimed at deepening political and economic partnerships between Italy and African countries. The summit focuses on enhancing trade, investment, and development cooperation, as well as promoting collaboration on regional security and migration issues.
