First Lady Zinash Tayachew Discusses Social Development Cooperation with Azerbaijani First Lady

Addis Ababa, February 27, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s First Lady Zinash Tayachew held discussions with First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva, focusing on cooperation in social development and initiatives supporting vulnerable communities.

In a message posted on her social media account, First Lady Zinash described the talks as fruitful. Their discussions took place during Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s maiden official visit to Azerbaijan.

She said she presented ongoing projects in Ethiopia under her office aimed at empowering vulnerable groups, particularly women, children, and persons with disabilities.

The discussions, FL Zinash said, explored opportunities for bilateral collaboration in the social development sector, with the Azerbaijani First Lady expressing readiness to support the establishment of centers and the facilitation of skills training programs.

The Ethiopian First Lady also reported visiting the Archaeology and Culture Museum near the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, as well as a handicraft production center operated by persons with disabilities.

She noted that the visit provided valuable insights that could strengthen similar initiatives and social assistance programs in Ethiopia.

According to her message, the exchanges highlighted shared commitments to advancing social welfare and expanding opportunities for vulnerable populations through cooperative efforts.
