PM Abiy Ahmed and First Lady Zinash Tayachew arrive in historic city of Harar

Addis Ababa, March 9, 2026 (FMC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, accompanied by a high-level delegation, arrived today in the historic city of Harar, famously known as the “City of Love,” the Office of the Prime Minister confirmed via social media.

Photographs shared by the Prime Minister’s office show local residents warmly welcoming him and his delegation upon arrival. “The ‘City of Love’ welcomes Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and First Lady Zinash Tayachew as they arrive in the Harrari Region,” the office noted.

The visit follows the Prime Minister’s tour of Dire Dawa since Sunday afternoon, where he inspected various development projects and initiatives in and around the city. Today, he continues his engagement in the eastern part of the country with a tour of Harar, one of Ethiopia’s most historic and culturally significant cities.
