Deputy PM Highlights National Unity, Shared Identity During Visit to Bahir Dar

Addis Ababa, March 22, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Truneh has underscored the country’s unity, shared identity, and collective national purpose following his arrival in Bahir Dar, capital of the Amhara Regional State.

In a message shared on his official social media pages, the Deputy Prime Minister described Bahir Dar as a city that embodies both Ethiopia’s natural beauty and rich historical legacy, noting that Lake Tana and the Blue Nile symbolize the nation’s enduring spirit.

He expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded upon arrival at Dejazmach Belay Zelke International Airport, extending gratitude to the President of the Amhara Regional State, cabinet members, and Bahir Dar City Administration leadership for the gracious welcome.

The Deputy Prime Minister also acknowledged religious leaders, elders, and residents of Bahir Dar for their contributions to national unity, highlighting the role of community values, wisdom, and spiritual guidance.

Mr. Temesgen noted that the reception reflects Ethiopia’s broader national character—diverse in culture yet united in purpose, and bound by a shared commitment to dignity, solidarity, and hope.
