Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Returns Home After Attending Djibouti Presidential Inauguration
Addis Ababa, May 9, 2026 (FMC) – Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has returned to his country this afternoon following a one-day visit to Djibouti, where he attended the inauguration ceremony of Ismaïl Omar Guelleh.
The Ethiopian Prime Minister traveled to Djibouti earlier in the day to take part in the official inauguration ceremony held for President Guelleh, who was sworn in for another term in office.
The event brought together senior government officials, foreign dignitaries, and invited guests from across the region and beyond.
Ethiopia and Djibouti maintain longstanding bilateral relations and cooperate closely in areas including trade, transport, port services, regional integration, and security cooperation.
Prime Minister Abiy’s participation in the ceremony reflects the close diplomatic ties between the two neighboring countries.
