Prime Minister Welcomes French President Macron on Third Visit to Ethiopia as Bilateral Ties Deepen

Addis Ababa, May 13, 2026 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport on Wednesday, marking the beginning of the French leader’s third official visit to Ethiopia.

In a message shared on social media following the reception, the Prime Minister highlighted the longstanding and growing partnership between Ethiopia and France, describing the visit as a reflection of strengthening bilateral ties.

“It is always a pleasure to welcome you back to Ethiopia, and on your third official visit, France’s friendship with our nation speaks for itself,” the Prime Minister said.

Looking ahead to discussions expected during the visit, he added that the relationship between the two countries continues to deepen, noting that “the ties that bind Ethiopia and France only grow stronger.”

The visit is expected to include high-level talks focusing on bilateral cooperation and ongoing areas of partnership between Addis Ababa and Paris.
