Intensified campaigning marks Ethiopia’s run-up to june 1 elections as parties engage voters nationwide
Addis Ababa, May 21, 2026 (FMC) – Ethiopia’s ruling Prosperity Party has stepped up voter outreach activities across various areas of the Amhara Region as political parties intensify nationwide campaign efforts ahead of the upcoming general elections scheduled for June 1.
The campaign was conducted under the theme: “With a strong and organized women’s voice, we will transform Ethiopia into a model country.”
Campaign activities were carried out in several towns, including Debre Markos, Lalibela, Debre Tabor, Debre Sina, Shewarobit, Durbete, Dembecha, Wereilu, Adet, Wereta, Ataye, Gendewein, and other surrounding areas.
Members of the Prosperity Party women’s wing, party supporters, and residents from various localities participated in the voter mobilization events held across the region.
During the campaigns, messages were conveyed highlighting that the Prosperity Party operates as a national political organization working to further strengthen and expand the benefits and participation of women in Ethiopia’s development process.
Participants expressed their strong support for the ruling party, stating their readiness to contribute to its continued efforts in advancing development, peace, and prosperity across the country.
It was also emphasized during the events that women’s active participation in the 7th general elections is essential for ensuring a legitimate and stable government as the election date draws near.
