NEBE Nears Completion of Election Verification as Results from 1,008 Constituencies Reach National Tally Center
Addis Ababa, June 10, 2026 (FMC) — The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) says the post-election verification process is advancing steadily, with results from 1,008 constituencies now received at the Board’s national verification center as officials continue validating outcomes from the country’s 7th General Election.
Briefing the media this evening, NEBE Chairperson Melatwork Hailu said results from 446 of the 501 House of Peoples’ Representatives constituencies and 562 of the 638 regional council constituencies have reached the Board’s verification center for final scrutiny.
She noted that vote counting and constituency-level tabulation have now been completed, while election results have been posted in all constituencies in accordance with the electoral process. The Board is currently verifying the tabulated results submitted from across the country before officially certifying the final outcome.
According to the Chairperson, results from the remaining 131 constituencies are still being transported to the national verification center, with delays largely attributed to distance and road conditions. She said the Board is closely monitoring the transfer process to ensure the outstanding results arrive as quickly as possible.
Melatwork also confirmed that the special voting conducted for internally displaced persons and members of the security forces registered in designated camps has been completed, adding that the consolidation and transmission of those results are also underway.
On the adjudication of electoral complaints, she disclosed that grievances have been filed in 120 constituencies by political parties and independent candidates.
The Chairperson said legal experts assigned by the Board are examining the complaints through the review of documentary evidence and witness testimonies before reaching decisions in accordance with the law.
She explained that the Board will officially certify the overall election results after the complaints lodged in the affected constituencies have been fully investigated and resolved.
Meanwhile, NEBE announced additional certified election results from constituencies across several regions.
According to the Board, the newly approved results include outcomes for both the House of Peoples’ Representatives and regional councils in the Amhara Region, Oromia Region, Central Ethiopia Region and Somali Region, as the nationwide verification and certification process continues.
