Ethiopia’s COP32 President-Designate Holds Talks with COP30 Counterpart on Summit Preparations
Addis Ababa, July 6, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and COP32 President-Designate, Dr. Gedion Timothewos, held bilateral discussions with COP30 President-Designate Ambassador André Aranha Corrêa do Lago as part of the country’s ongoing preparations to host the 32nd United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP32).
According to the official COP32 Ethiopia platform, the meeting focused on exchanging insights and lessons learned from organizing the annual UN climate conference, with Ethiopia seeking to draw on the experience of previous host countries as it advances preparations for the global summit.
The discussions, which also involved members of the COP30 President-Designate’s team, form part of Ethiopia’s broader efforts to ensure the successful organization of COP32 through knowledge-sharing and international cooperation.
Ethiopia has intensified preparations for hosting COP32 in 2027, with recent initiatives including the launch of the conference’s official website and digital communication platforms to provide verified information and updates as the country prepares to welcome delegates from around the world.
