World Bank Commends Ethiopia’s Reform Performance, Reaffirms Support for Long-Term Development Goals

Addis Ababa, July 14, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s Finance Minister Ahmed Shide held discussions with World Bank Managing Director for Operations Anna Bjerde in Addis Ababa, focusing on the East African nation’s ongoing reform efforts, economic outlook and future development priorities.

On the occasion, Mr. Ahmed briefed the World Bank official on Ethiopia’s sustained reform momentum, the government’s focus areas and updates on strategic priorities for the upcoming Country Partnership Framework.

For her part, Bjerde congratulated the Ethiopian government on its reform performance and positive economic outlook.

She reaffirmed the World Bank’s continued support for advancing Ethiopia’s reform agenda and long-term development objectives.

The meeting comes as Ethiopia and the World Bank continue engagements on development cooperation and future partnership priorities.
