Ethio Telecom Subscribers Reach 90.1 Million as Digital Expansion Accelerates

Addis Ababa, July 23, 2026 (FMC) — Ethio Telecom Chief Executive Officer Frehiwot Tamiru said the company’s subscriber base has reached 90.1 million, highlighting major progress in network expansion, technology adoption, and digital service delivery.

Frehiwot made the remarks today while presenting Ethio Telecom’s performance report for the 2025/26 fiscal year, noting that the company has continued to play a key role in advancing Digital Ethiopia through the expansion of modern telecommunications services.

She said Ethio Telecom has been working with strong commitment to provide technology-driven services and accelerate digital transformation by adopting emerging technologies and expanding network infrastructure across the country.

According to the CEO, the company has expanded network accessibility in rural areas, extending services to 117 additional districts and enabling 1.5 million citizens to benefit from improved connectivity.

She further stated that 246 additional cities have gained access to 4G services, bringing the total number of cities using 4G connectivity to 1,200.

Frehiwot also highlighted the continued expansion of 5G services, saying seven additional cities have been connected to the technology, increasing the total number of cities benefiting from 5G services to 33.

She noted that the company’s efforts to enhance network coverage and service accessibility have produced encouraging results, supporting wider digital inclusion and improved connectivity for citizens.

The CEO also said Ethio Telecom has undertaken various activities aimed at strengthening job creation and expanding revenue sources, contributing to the growth of the digital economy.

She added that the company achieved 101.7 percent of its annual subscriber target, with its customer base reaching 90.1 million by the end of the reporting period.
