African Diplomatic Community Explores Ethiopia’s MESOB Model for Modern Public Service Delivery
Addis Ababa, August 10, 2026 (FMC) — Members of the African diplomatic community in Addis Ababa visited the FDRE MESOB Service Federal Government Service Center, gaining insight into Ethiopia’s efforts to modernize public service delivery through an integrated, technology-enabled model.
During the visit, CEO of FDRE MESOB Service Yonas Alemayehu briefed the diplomats on the service’s first year of operation and its emerging role as a key economic infrastructure under the Digital Ethiopia 2030 agenda.
He said MESOB is contributing not only to transforming the delivery of government services but also to reshaping the relationship between citizens and government by creating an integrated, accessible, transparent and technology-enabled service environment.
The CEO noted that the model brings multiple government institutions and service providers together under a unified system, reducing fragmentation and making public services more convenient, predictable and citizen-centered.
According to the briefing, the approach is intended to enable citizens to experience government institutions as more responsive, accessible, accountable and service-oriented, while improving their overall service experience and satisfaction and strengthening public confidence and trust.
Alemayehu further highlighted the growing national significance of MESOB, saying the platform is increasingly emerging as a national asset driven by Ethiopian expertise and innovation across its value chain. This includes software development, digital service integration, architectural design, physical infrastructure and innovative mobile service delivery mechanisms.
The visit also enabled members of the African diplomatic community to learn about MESOB’s integrated service model, technological innovations and citizen-centered approach, as well as its contribution to the modernization of public services and Ethiopia’s broader digital transformation agenda.
