Addis Ababa, August 22, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s defense forces are maintaining a high level of readiness to safeguard the country’s national interests, Chief of Staff of the Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) Field Marshal Berhanu Jula said.
He made the remarks as the Special Operations Command Training Center graduated its 45th cohort of “Tsenat” Basic Commando Course trainees.
Field Marshal Berhanu said Ethiopia’s airborne and commando forces have developed into highly capable combat formations, backed by physical fitness, endurance and advanced military knowledge that enable them to influence the course of military operations.
He said the Airborne and Commando Force has demonstrated its capacity to fulfill its national responsibilities after successfully overcoming demanding challenges.
Addressing the graduates, the ENDF Chief of Staff called on them to remain a dependable and prepared force capable of safeguarding Ethiopia’s national interests with loyalty and determination.
He urged the newly graduated commandos to uphold the country’s tradition of courage and remain committed to protecting Ethiopia and fulfilling their national responsibilities.
Field Marshal Berhanu further said Ethiopia has built a reliable defense force equipped with modern military capabilities and organized to serve as a strong shield for the country.
He emphasized that the defense forces remain in a state of dependable readiness to protect Ethiopia’s national interests.
