AU Commission Chairperson Conveys Deep Condolences to Tanzania’s President Samia After Husband’s Death

Addis Ababa, September 7, 2026 (FMC) — African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf has conveyed his deepest condolences to Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, her family and the people of Tanzania following the death of her husband, Hafidh Ameir Hassan.

In a condolence message, Youssouf expressed his profound sympathy to President Samia and her family during this difficult period following the passing of Hafidh Ameir Hassan.

He wished the bereaved family strength, courage and solace as they mourn their loss.

The AU Commission Chairperson also prayed for the peaceful repose of the departed soul, concluding his message with the Islamic expression, “Inalilahi wainailehi rajiun.”
