Deputy Prime Minister Invites Investors, Development Partners to Look Beyond Challenges, Embrace Ethiopia’s Opportunities

Addis Ababa, September 29, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Truneh has invited investors and development partners to look beyond temporary challenges and engage with the institutions, markets and opportunities the country is building.

Opening the 2nd edition of Ethiopia Finance Forum 2026 today, the Deputy Prime Minister said Ethiopia’s economic reforms must ultimately be measured by the opportunities they create for people and businesses.

He highlighted expanding access to finance for women, youth, farmers and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), deepening financial and capital markets, strengthening digital and financial infrastructure, and mobilizing greater domestic and international private capital for productive investment.

Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to macroeconomic stability and sustained reform, as well as to a strong partnership with the private sector.

He said Ethiopia’s economic direction would remain unchanged despite challenges the country may encounter.

“Our future does not rest on the absence of challenges, but on our capacity to overcome them,” he said.

The Deputy Prime Minister urged investors and development partners to take a longer-term view of Ethiopia’s economic prospects by looking beyond temporary difficulties to the institutions, markets and opportunities being developed.

He also called on participants of the Ethiopia Finance Forum to translate the discussions and engagements at the forum into concrete action.

“Ethiopia is moving forward. Ethiopia is building. And Ethiopia intends to succeed,” Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen said.
