Irreecha Hora Finfinne Concludes in Addis Ababa with Celebration of Unity and Cultural Heritage
Addis Ababa, October 3, 2026 (FMC) — Irreecha Hora Finfinne has concluded peacefully in Addis Ababa, bringing a vibrant day of thanksgiving and cultural celebration to a close while preserving the traditions and values at the heart of the Oromo festival.
Hundreds of thousands of people gathered at Hora Finfinne from the early morning, filling the celebration with traditional attire, music, dance and ceremonial blessings in a vivid display of cultural heritage and communal celebration.
Following the conclusion of the festival, Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abiebie described Irreecha as a living expression of thanksgiving, peace, love and unity.
In a message shared on her social media pages, the Mayor said Irreecha extends beyond its cultural traditions, providing a major occasion where people from different backgrounds meet in love and brotherhood and where values of togetherness and tolerance are vividly expressed.
She called on Ethiopians to put these values into practice by coordinating their capabilities, strengthening their unity and working together for peace, national consensus and comprehensive prosperity.
The Mayor also expressed appreciation to those who contributed to the peaceful and successful conclusion of the celebration, particularly residents of Addis Ababa for welcoming visitors with Ethiopian hospitality and warmth.
She extended further gratitude to the Abba Gadaas, Hadha Sinqees, Follees, security personnel and leaders for their respective contributions to the successful celebration.
The conclusion of Irreecha Hora Finfinne marks the close of one of Addis Ababa’s major annual cultural gatherings, while its message of thanksgiving, togetherness and peaceful coexistence continues to resonate beyond the celebration.
