PM Abiy Ahmed and AU Commission Chairperson Discuss Continental Governance, Africa’s Development Priorities

Addis Ababa, November 6, 2026 (FMC) – Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed held talks with Chairperson of the African Union Commission Mahmoud Ali Youssouf on continental governance, inclusive political processes, long-term development priorities and strengthening Africa’s leadership.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Second African Political Parties Summit, following its opening in Addis Ababa.

In a social media post following the meeting, the Prime Minister said the two sides exchanged views on key continental issues, including governance, inclusive political processes and Africa’s long-term development priorities.

Their discussions also addressed strengthening Africa’s leadership.
