Addis Ababa’s 7B ETB industrial village nearing completion, poised to boost jobs & manufacturing
Addis Ababa, June 25, 2025 (FMC) — A state-of-the-art industrial village under construction in Ethiopia’s capital at a cost of 7 billion birr is now nearing completion, according to Addis Ababa Mayor Ms. Adanech Abiebie.
During a site visit to the project, Mayor Adanech affirmed that preparations are underway to bring the facility into full operation, with a strong focus on delivering visible, tangible, and lasting solutions to residents’ economic needs.
The first phase of the industrial village spans 93 hectares and features over 120 production and display sheds. These facilities are designed to support a wide array of sectors, including metalwork, woodworking, textiles, plastics, and chemicals.
According to the mayor, the project is a key part of the city’s strategy to generate mass employment, stimulate local manufacturing, and reduce foreign currency outflows by substituting imported goods with locally made products.
Phase two of the development will expand the village’s capacity with additional sheds dedicated to agro-processing industries.
Unlike previous industrial clusters, the new village integrates modern technologies and electro-mechanical systems to enhance productivity and sustainability.
Strategically located near the new Akaki–Bole Cargo Road and just minutes from Bole International Airport, the industrial village is well-positioned to facilitate efficient transport and logistics for both domestic and international trade, the mayor’s office told Fana Digital today.
