African Leaders and Global Delegates Gather in Addis Ababa for Landmark Climate Summit
Addis Ababa, September 7, 2025 (FMC) – African Heads of State are arriving in Addis Ababa for the Second Africa Climate Summit (ACS2), where they were welcomed by senior Ethiopian officials ahead of three days of high-level deliberations.
The summit, taking place from September 8–10 at the Addis International Convention Center (AICC), is set to be a decisive moment for the continent as leaders seek to forge a unified voice on climate action and reposition Africa as a driving force in global climate governance.
Convened under the theme “Accelerating Global Climate Solutions: Financing for Africa’s Resilient and Green Development,” ACS2 will emphasize Africa’s determination to shape international climate finance frameworks and ensure the continent’s priorities are reflected in upcoming global negotiations, including COP30 in Brazil and the G20.
The gathering will culminate in the adoption of the historic Addis Ababa Declaration, the release of flagship reports, and the launch of initiatives designed to mobilize billions in green investment. The outcomes are expected to showcase Africa’s resolve to move from ambition to action—demonstrating that the continent is united, prepared, and committed to advancing resilient and sustainable development for generations to come.
