All Arrangements in Place for 39th AU Summit in Addis Ababa – MFA

Addis Ababa, January 29, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia has finalized all necessary preparations for the 39th African Union Summit, scheduled to be held in Addis Ababa in the coming weeks, according to State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ambassador Berhanu Tsegaye.

In an interview with the Fana Podcast, the State Minister said comprehensive arrangements are underway, covering guest reception, transportation services, hotel accommodations, and security measures, all being implemented with the highest level of care and coordination.

He noted that extensive preparatory work is also being carried out in collaboration with the African Union and relevant institutions on the key agendas to be discussed during the Summit, including issues related to diplomacy, politics, the economy, and other priority sectors.

In this context, Ambassador Berhanu stated that intensive efforts are underway to effectively manage requests from various countries seeking to visit major development projects, as well as to facilitate exchanges of experience in corridor development and other areas.

He further said that preparations are also in progress to ensure a comprehensive and successful reception for participants of the Africa–Italy Summit.

The State Minister explained that hosting the Summit, as the seat of the African Union, provides Ethiopia with a significant opportunity to further strengthen its role in continental platforms and safeguard its national interests.

He added that achieving this objective requires promoting the country’s greatness, dignity, and way of life, underscoring that the active participation of all stakeholders is essential to ensure the overall success of the Summit.
