Addis Ababa, October 14, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed held a telephone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on key bilateral, regional, and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
Describing the conversation as “very fruitful,” Prime Minister Abiy said the discussion reflected the commitment of both countries to translating their enduring relationship into a more strategic and practical partnership.
“Our discussion is proof to the commitment of both countries in translating the enduring relationship between Ethiopia and the United States into a more strategic and practical partnership,” the Prime Minister stated in a social media post.
He also welcomed assurances of continued U.S. support for Ethiopia, emphasizing the two countries’ shared commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation and addressing regional and multilateral priorities.
