25th Eastern & Southern Africa Anti-Money Laundering Ministerial Conference Opens in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, August 29, 2025 (FMC) — The 25th Eastern and Southern Africa Anti-Money Laundering Ministerial Conference opened today in Addis Ababa, bringing together high-level government officials, policymakers, and representatives from international and continental institutions.

Ministers from 21 countries, including Botswana’s Vice President and Minister of Finance, are attending the gathering, which serves as a platform for regional cooperation against money laundering and illicit financial flows.

The conference was inaugurated at the UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) Conference Center in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh and other senior Ethiopian government officials, underscoring Ethiopia’s commitment to advancing collective efforts in financial crime prevention.
