Addis Ababa, September 7, 2025 (FMC) – Sheikh Hadji Ibrahim Tufa has been re-elected as President of the Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council, following a participatory election process concluded this week.
The 2017 E.C. Election Summary Program was held on Sunday at the Grand Anwar Mosque, marking the culmination of the council’s electoral process, which began on August 15, 2025, under the theme, “Our Election in Our Mosque.”
Abdulaziz Ibrahim, Chairman of the 2017 E.C. Election Executive Board, described the election as successfully conducted with broad participation. He confirmed that the council’s senior leadership—President, Vice Presidents, and Secretary General—was formally elected to serve a five-year term.
In the election results, Sheikh Hadji Ibrahim Tufa retained his position as President. Sheikh Abdulkarim Bedredin was elected First Vice President, while Sheikh Junaid Hamza and Sheikh Hamid Musa were chosen as Vice Presidents. Ustaz Temkin Abdullahi was elected Secretary General.
The newly elected leadership officially assumed their roles after taking their oaths at the Grand Anwar Mosque in Addis Ababa, committing to guide the Supreme Council over the next five years.
