Addis Ababa, January 1, 2026 (FMC) – In a thrilling conclusion to the 2025 road racing calendar, Ethiopia’s Yomif Kejelcha delivered a stunning performance at the BOclassic Alto Adige in Bolzano, Italy, setting a new course record in the men’s 10 km race.
The elite World Athletics Label road race took place on Wednesday, December 31, drawing top international distance runners to the iconic New Year’s Eve event.
Kejelcha dominated the men’s field, crossing the finish line in 27 minutes 42 seconds, slicing 17 seconds off the previous course record.
The Ethiopian long-distance star, who also holds the world record in the half marathon, showcased his trademark strength and tactical prowess to secure the victory ahead of compatriot Telahun Haile Bekele, who finished second in 27:47. Italy’s Yeman Crippa rounded out the podium in third place with 27:57.
The 10 km race featured a competitive lead pack through the first half, but Kejelcha gradually pulled away in the latter stages, demonstrating both his endurance and finishing speed against a strong international field.
In the women’s 5 km race, Italy’s Nadia Battocletti continued her remarkable run at the BOclassic, claiming her third consecutive victory with a finishing time of 15:51.
Battocletti’s strategic pace and decisive surge in the latter half of the race helped her hold off the competition and extend her winning streak in Bolzano.
