Addis Ababa, June 2, 2025 (FMC) – An Ethiopia-Belgium-Luxembourg Trade and Investment Forum was held in Addis Ababa today, as the business delegation from both countries explore investment opportunities in Ethiopia..
In his opening remarks, the Minister of Finance Ahmed Shide said, Ethio-Belgium and Ethio-Luxembourg bilateral and multilateral cooperations are growing. He stated that Ethiopia’s ongoing macroeconomic reforms will create vast opportunities for expanding trade and investment between Ethiopia and the BENELUX countries. He also called on the participants to invest in agriculture, mining, manufacturing, ICT, and industry sectors.
State Minister of Industry Hassan Mohamed also stated that Ethiopia has undertaken extensive activities to modernize its industrial sector and noted that it will work with Belgian and Luxembourgish companies with extensive experience in the sector, especially in manufacturing, chemical, and steel engineering.
Ethiopian Investment Commissioner Zeleke Temesgen, on his part, reiterated the commission’s continued support to Belgian and Luxembourgish investors and companies to invest in various sectors, either through sole proprietorship or joint ventures.
Belgian Ambassador to Ethiopia Annelies Verstichel stated that Ethiopia-Belgium diplomatic relations span over 120 years and stressed that the forum will enhance the relationship through trade and investment.
The Forum was made possible with the collaboration of the Ethiopian Embassy in Brussels, the Belgian Embassy in Addis Ababa, and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture for Belgium, Luxembourg, Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific (CPL-ACP).
