Addis Ababa, July 19, 2026 (FMC) — Addis Ababa achieved more than 96 percent of its planned targets during the 2025/26 fiscal year and the implementation of its five-year strategic development plan, registering major gains in urban development, public service delivery, employment creation, and project execution.
Mayor Adanech Abiebie announced the achievement while concluding the city administration’s annual performance review and assessment of the implementation of its five-year strategic development plan.
She said the administration successfully completed the three-day review process after assessing the performance of the concluded fiscal year and the broader strategic plan, noting that the results were achieved through sustained efforts, a transformed work culture, and a strong commitment to implementing planned goals.
The mayor said the city administration has worked over the past five years to digitize public service delivery and address challenges related to good governance. She noted that the administration has particularly accelerated the transformation of government services through a digital one-stop service system during the concluded fiscal year.
She said the city has also prioritized people-centered development initiatives aimed at benefiting all sections of society, including children, students, women, youth, and elderly citizens, as part of efforts to promote social equity and ensure inclusive development.

The mayor acknowledged that despite the achievements recorded, the administration continues to work on addressing remaining challenges, including gaps in leadership effectiveness, ethical standards, and information management.
She said further efforts will focus on improving the cost of living, addressing market distortions, expanding employment opportunities, promoting cleanliness as a culture, modernizing public services, strengthening the digital one-stop service system, improving housing and transportation, expanding road and water infrastructure, and advancing urban renewal initiatives.
Mayor Adanech said the city administration will continue consolidating the development efforts already underway by ensuring greater quality, scale, and speed, while giving special attention to building a stronger and more effective government system.
She reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to serving Addis Ababa residents with greater dedication, responsibility, and determination.
