Addis Ababa, October 9, 2026 (FMC) — Addis Ababa city, Ethiopia’s capital, has shared its experience and best practices in early childhood development with a Nigerian delegation led by Vice President Kashim Shettima, showcasing initiatives designed to support children’s development from their earliest years.

The exchange focused on the city’s Early Years Development Programme, through which the Addis Ababa City Administration has expanded child-focused services and facilities as part of its commitment to nurturing a “Generation of Medemer.”

During the visit, the Nigerian delegation toured neighbourhood playgrounds, childcare centres, preschools, health service facilities and parental guidance centres established under the programme.

She noted that Addis Ababa had undergone significant transformation over the past five years, with particular attention given to programmes benefiting children and adolescents.
