AfDB President Sidi Ould Tah Arrives in Addis Ababa Ahead of AU and Italy‑Africa Summits

Addis Ababa, February 12, 2026 (FMC) – The President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), Sidi Ould Tah, arrived in Addis Ababa on Wednesday to participate in the 39th African Union Summit and the 2nd Italy‑Africa Summit.

Upon his arrival at Bole International Airport, President Ould Tah was warmly received by Ethiopia’s Minister of Planning and Development, Fitsum Assefa, and State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Berhanu Tsegaye.

The AfDB President is expected to engage with African heads of state, government officials, and key delegates during the summits, discussing strategic initiatives for sustainable development, regional integration, and economic growth across the continent. His participation underscores the Bank’s pivotal role in financing Africa’s development priorities and supporting the implementation of the AU’s Agenda 2063 goals.

The 2nd Italy‑Africa Summit, scheduled for February 13, 2026, will bring together Italian and African leaders to strengthen political and economic cooperation and review ongoing partnerships. The 39th AU Summit, scheduled for February 14–15, 2026, will convene African leaders to deliberate on continental priorities, including water security, sanitation, peace and security, and regional integration.
