Addis Ababa, May 11, 2025 (FMC) — Ambassador Oumer Hussein (PhD), Ethiopia’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, emphasized the significant role the diaspora plays in driving the country’s economic and social development.
The occasion marked the celebration of Ethiopian Week in Abu Dhabi, where Ethiopians from across the United Arab Emirates gathered.
As part of the festivities, a business forum was organized to connect the Ethiopian business community in the UAE with business organizations in Ethiopia.
Ambassador Oumer, who opened the forum, underscored the importance of the diaspora in accelerating Ethiopia’s progress.
He highlighted the crucial role they play in facilitating the transfer of knowledge and technology, which is vital for the country’s development.
The Ambassador also noted that efforts to boost diaspora investment participation have shown positive results, stressing the need for more business forums to further strengthen these ties.
During the forum, a significant milestone was achieved when the Ethiopian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, signed a memorandum of understanding to foster closer collaboration between the two chambers.
