Addis Ababa, January 23, 2026 (FMC) – President Taye Atske-Selassie has emphasized that Ethiopia’s urbanization journey is progressing steadily, with cities that successfully integrate their heritage and resources with modern development emerging as enduring symbols of knowledge, productivity, progress, and peace.
During a recent visit to Gonder, a historic city in the Amhara region, President Taye toured key landmarks and development projects, including 17th-century royal castles, churches, and mosques.
In a message shared on his social media page, he highlighted the nation’s urbanization trajectory, stating that the journey is strong and that attention is focused on its plans, progress, and future.
President Taye underscored that harmonizing historical heritage with contemporary urban planning not only preserves cultural identity but also fosters sustainable development and civic growth, positioning Ethiopian cities as models of innovation and resilience.
