Addis Ababa, May 7, 2025 (FMC) — Delegates from Nigeria, South Africa, and Egypt have noted that the ongoing corridor development projects in Addis Ababa are strengthening the city’s capacity to host international conferences and events.
Speaking to Fana Media Corporation, the visitors emphasized that Addis Ababa’s expanding infrastructure provides improved convenience for conference tourism.
They observed that recent developments across the capital are contributing positively to the city’s appeal as a destination for continental gatherings.
Nigerian delegate Ayo Dennehy indicated that the rapid changes underway in Addis Ababa have made it more suitable for conference tourism.
He emphasized that, beyond corridor upgrades, the construction and expansion of conference centers have created a platform capable of attracting both African and global stakeholders in the MICE sector.
South African participant Confidence Lukwane remarked that Ethiopia’s historical significance and tourist attractions further elevate the country’s standing.
She noted that visiting sites such as the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum and the Addis International Convention Center—along with the corridor development projects—highlighted Addis Ababa’s tourism potential.
Fellow South African delegate Shatton Tichao, who has visited Addis Ababa three times, observed that the city is undergoing steady transformation.
He noted that the government’s corridor development efforts have made the capital more livable and appealing to international visitors.
According to him, these improvements are likely to contribute to an increase in the number of people traveling to the city.
Egyptian delegate Ahmed Mohamed stated that the newly constructed roads and buildings are indicative of the government’s focus on urban development.
He pointed out that visible efforts are being made to enhance the experience of visitors arriving for conferences and other engagements. He added that the ongoing corridor development will expand Ethiopia’s capacity to host continental and international events.
