Addis Ababa, December 22, 2025 (FMC) — Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh, who also chairs the National Digital Transformation Council, outlined the objectives of the Digital Ethiopia 2030 Strategy, emphasizing its focus on secure, sovereign, and citizen-centered digital systems.
The remarks were delivered during the review of the Digital Ethiopia 2025 Strategy and the official launch of Digital Ethiopia 2030, held over the weekend at Addis International Convention Center.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) officially launched the strategy on that occasion, which was attended by senior government officials, federal and regional leaders, and key stakeholders.
In his address at the event, Deputy PM Temesgen explained that the new strategy aims to further develop a citizen-centric governance system. He said the initiative will provide inclusive digital services while ensuring that sovereign and secure digital systems flourish across the country.
He highlighted that Digital Ethiopia 2030 will create an environment where internal innovation is encouraged, building on the government’s ongoing Digital Ethiopia program.
He noted that the preceding Digital Ethiopia 2025 Strategy had already advanced Ethiopia’s digital journey by transforming service delivery, public connectivity, business systems, government accessibility, and digital security.
Deputy PM Temesgen noted that the Council of Ministers recently approved the Digital Ethiopia 2030 Strategy and emphasized that it is expected to accelerate the expansion of digital initiatives launched through joint efforts, diligence, and cooperation.
He further described the strategy as a framework for building a vibrant digital ecosystem, promoting sustainable digital productivity, and driving national transformation across all sectors.
